No, I don't think it's the problem. On my second system, I compiled xf86
-video-intel from git using xorg 7.2 sources; here's my log:
(II) Module i810: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 7.2.0, module version = 1.7.4
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 1.1
Performance is exactly the same.
