This is especially irritating on laptops with no other visual feedback
for radio status (many laptops have wifi on/off indicator lights). I
just spent 2 hours debugging my new laptop's wireless, after going as
far as installing ndiswrapper and rebooting a million times, only to
realise that someone had hit the fn key for the wifi. iwconfig seems to
know what is going on though.
