Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

karmic 64-bit on AMD Athlon dual core
with onboard 5.1 soundchip

when using the keyboard to change the volume notify-osd shows volume as 100%
(the speaker and line flashes) but if i open up the audio settings, the master
volume was at about 60% (there aren't any indications like dB or %) so if i
turn the master up to 100% the volume goes up. if i now use keyboard to turn
volume down the notify-osd keeps flashing until the master is at the 60% and
then notify-osd shows the volume changes correctly.
this behaviour is always the same, so if now using keyboard to vulume up it
goes until notify-osd flashes and the master in audio-settings is at 60%.
