Brian, I am not sure if it is a duplicate.
"PC randomly freezes during basic use. Nothing is responding. I need to restart
using the power button.". I never use sleep nor hibernate (since it does not
work anyway) and yet the system freezes randomly.

Karmic 9.10 freezes during use. Need to reboot via power button.
