As @Chris_Z stated: The problem appears to be after Windows updates and Windows does some blind-writing to where the mbr exists. I am suspecting it has something to do with creating restore points, and I'm wondering if there is any possible workaround. I suppose I could try disabling Restore Points but that isn't always a good option if you want any sort of recovery options with Windows.
