You have been subscribed to a public bug:
In Kubuntu Karmic the password text field sometimes does not have focus
by default, even though the cursor is blinking. The user must select the
input field before being able to type your password.
This is a usability problem because:
1) the cursor implies the input field is in focus and is a hint that the user
should type their password
2) if the input field is not selected, the user may type their password without
success, generating a user error
3) 99% of the type the user is going to simply type their password and having
to select the input field is an extra step
This should be fixed so that the password input box always has keyboard
focus on boot.
