I think we should create a list of the weirdest hardware that appear to be 
especially hostile to Linux/BSD systems.
I guess, the first place would be held by ATI-based ones.

I upgraded this very laptop (see above)  from 9.04 to 9.10. Some of things got 
even worse now.
I figured, webcam, suspend and wireless do not work with new 2.6.31* kernels. 
The weird thing is that it gets broken (independently?) on newer kernels. With 
suspend it get different now. Some of the devices won't go to sleep according 
to the pm logs. I do not have time or will to take care of this, since it is 
not the only thing that fails now. Most of the things except webcam and suspend 
would work with 2.6.30-rc2 kernels from the ppa/~mainline. 
The updated audio system (pulse perhaps) refuses to communicate witht the the 
old 2.6.28* kernels
