I'm a very long ways from being an expert but this is the fix finally got me sound.
Sound: The sound hardware will be detected, but will not work out of the box. You need to merely add the following line to your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file: options snd-hda-intel model=dell and restart the computer. Open up the volume control and select 'HDA Intel (Alsa mixer)' under Device. You'll see a new slider there labeled 'Speaker'. Turn that puppy all the way up. My Dell is a vostro 2510. Seemed an incredibly easy fix and it worked. -- No sound for Dell Studio XPS 1640 laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
