Hello, I suffered a similar problem.

Luca, maybe you can check whether you have corresponding setup.

To make things more complicated it occurred to me first with Rhythmbox and
since a couple of days ago with Exaile.
After I switched to Exaile (which was a few weeks ago) the Rhythmbox startups
went really crazy and I found no other solution than to rename the binary.

I did a lot with plugins and configurations the last days, weeks, months
and so on (new linux user ;-) ) therefore impossible to tell what could
have caused all of this ... until today.

While reading this bug report my Pidgin got freezed at every unwanted
startup of Exaile. Therefore ... I will shorten the story ... I found
out that the Pidgin plugin AutoProfile <http://autoprofile.sf.net> was
causing the startups of Exaile (because I configured some "playing now"
stuff there that calls "exaile -q") and - to make it even more
complicated, somehow there was a connection to Nautilus (maybe via
Pidgin plugin "Nautilus Integration").

This was the most confusing point as I did tests where I waited for
Exaile to start ... which it did not do ... until I clicked on "white
space" within Nautilus.

I have to admit that not everything makes complete sense, because the
AutoProfile polls are constantly configured to 30 second intervals, but the
Exaile/Rhythmbox startup _definitely_ were much quicker. Maybe this Nautilus
Integration plugin fills the gape, but this is not for sure.

But ... if this helps at least someone at some time, even only partially
... this will be enough. ;-)
