I had to "reset to default" the color option in the "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Display". The "hue" value was set to the left side of the screen.
How did it happens is for me a sort of mystery. I can just mention that I untick recently the option "Show visual effect when an audio file is played" in the same screen.
