Dear ^_Pepe_^;
Your email arrived just before the holidays here in the USA.
I did take the time this weekend to experiment with Karmic 9.10 release
on two different San Disk memory sticks and three different computers.
The answer is that in all these tests the "suspense" feature worked
correctly.
In all cases the "Hibernate" feature DID NOT work! I assume that there
are numerous reports about this problem.
Computer #1: HP ze4910US with Intel Celeron 1400 MHz with
1 Gbyte of memory and Broadcom 43XX internal
wireless
This system has a hardware switch to turn on or off
the
wireless system and starts an led when wireless is
turned "ON".
Operating System 9.10 on slow San Disk memory stick.
operating system never starts and switch for wireless
comes
ON. Screen flashes with startup text seen for a short
moment.
Operating System 9.10 on Fast San Disk memory stick.
operating system never starts and switch for wireless
comes
ON. Screen flashes with startup text seen for a short
moment.
Change in hardware. I inserted a PCMCIA D-link card that
I used for wireless when using 9.04 operating system.
When
9.04 system booted it did not "turn ON" the Broadcom
light.
This 9.04 system booted and wireless was shown in the
list
of ways to connect to the internet. The D-Link card
uses Atheros
chipset.
So now I tried the 9.10 Fast San Disk memory stick and
same
bad results. Broadcom light came on and flashing text
screen
boot up did not complete.
Computer #2: HP mini 1000 with Intel Atom N270 1.60 GHz 1 Gbyte of memory
and Broadcom 43XX internal wireless
Operating System 9.10 on slow San Disk memory stick.
operating system loads and suspend works. Hibernate
does not work.
Networking only shows wired operation. No wireless
shown.
Operating system 9.10 on fast San Disk memory stick.
operating system loads and suspend works. Hibernate
does not work.
Networking only shows wired operation. No wireless
shown.
Computer #3: Acer Netbook Aspire One with Intel Atom N270 1.60 GHz 1 Gbyte
of memory
and Broadcom 43XX internal wireless.
No wireless
shown.
I hope this is helpful information. When I use a memory stick with Operating
system 9.04
there is no problem getting Broadcom internal networking to work properly.
The only
problem on that version of the OS was "suspend" not working.
Please send me an email if there are parts of this set of tests that you do
not understand.
Regards,
Rog Parmenter
