I think you missed the point, Ubuntu One stopped working for a number of people - it crashed and then would not connect anymore.
It looks like the directory got corrupted, and deleting the contents fixed it. The fact that one user renamed the directory in an attempt to fix things doesn;t change the fact that it self destructed in the first place, not everyone who said "me too" to the bug had renamed it. Close it if you want, but the software still crashed, still corrupted and still required guesswork to resolve.
