I'm seeing similar behavior on a Dell Latitude D830 with an external keyboard
from Logitech.
The previous installation of Jaunty suspended the machine when the "Suspend"
button on the external keyboard was pressed, Karmic simply blanks the screen.
The key is mapped to XF86Sleep as intended.
