Had the same problem after performing a ubuntu update. Fix in #210
worked for me. Note that I did not need to perform the steps indicated
in B) (i.e. B) ensure that when you boot there is no command "insmod
ntfs". Press "e" at the grub boot menu to edit the relevant entry and
remove "insmod ntfs" before proceeding).
