I just tried the "+subscribe" hack described in comment #21. I hope it works.
The bug filling my filtered mail queue was on xserver-xorg-video-intel, and I had no idea that even after unsubscribing to the bug I would get so much mail due to the "also notified" feature in Launchpad. I don't know why Launchpad insists on "also notifying" me. If I subscribe to the bug, I should have the choice to receive mail or not. And if I don't subscribe, I really shouldn't be getting any mail at all. I consider this a major Launchpad bug.
