Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information.
Would you please add the information requested from the "Reporting Sound
Bugs" section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems as
separate attachments?

Can you please try installing "linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic"
(then reboot) & report your results? A number of audio problems on
laptops have been resolved by installing this package. Also please
ensure there are no extra "alsa model quirks" in your /etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf

If this does not resolve your issue, please run "apport-collect -p alsa-base 
500407" (without the quotes) from the terminal.
