Thanx for your quick reaction ! Yes, you're right - I tried to install it with Software-Center, but I can't remember having been asked for the timezone stuff ... Anyhow, I fixed the problem by looking for "Defects" in Synaptic-Manager - it found two incorrect installed packs (both in the java-runtime stuff) and succeeded in reinstalling them. Thereafter, everything went fine ... Again, thank you for the quick response ...
