This is actually not fixed in upstream. What I thought I had asked for
in the bug link above was not asked clearly enough, or something. The
result of that bug is now that the same background, can display
correctly on both screens regardless of size. However, this launchpad
bug is reported (again by me) upstream-bug at:

This time I ask for a way to manage backgrounds on both screens
independent of each other.
