I reported this bug in October but mine got merged with this bug. I had initialy said it was the gnome volume control and not pulseaudio.
The fact that the noise was tied to the precise position on the volume slider, and the fact that the slider goes all the way to 150%(!) (reminds me of spinal tap, lol) led me to think that the bug was in the volume control. Since then I got a new motherboard and fresh install w/Karmic: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller I think it was an ICH9 before. Same problem. FYI I also had to comment out: "options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N" in alsa-base.conf to stop the popping noise. -- Highpitched Rattling like Sound with 5.1 Surround Configuration on Karmic Koala https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445849 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
