The error dialogue is telling you that some of the libraries upon which thunderbird depends are out of date, so it would make no sense to report your problem as a bug until you rectify that. This suggests an underlying problem, i.e. that your system is not fully updated. You need to open a terminal and "sudo apt-get update" then "sudo apt-get upgrade". You will probably notice that libc6 and libc-bin are amongst the packages that are listed to be updated. When you've done this, try to reproduce your problem again. It may have gone away. If not, try using apport again.
