Same problem here with Karmic and an IPod formated under WIndows. Since I am using Ubuntu (3 years), I have never been able to create any playlist with Rhytmbox. Did it already work once for someone ? I had other problems with IPods and Rhytmbox : friends of mine complained that their IPod went completely empty after connecting to my computer at new year's Eve but that's a different problem, another bug I should open...
