I can confirm that this bug is also present in 9.10 release. The driver rtl8180 won't go into ad-hoc mode. Either you cannot change it with "iwconfig mode ad-hoc" (reports busy) or when enabling the device with "ifconfig wlan0 up" says "operation not supported" with ad-hoc mode installed.
