Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

The Ubuntu packaging for PulseAudio disables flat volumes, which would
be a nice feature to enhance usability – please see
http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/PulseAudioStoleMyVolumes.

The PulseAudio author has expressed disappointment for this Ubuntu
packaging decision.

Please enable flat volumes.

The bugs 0090-disable-flat-volumes.patch is supposed to fix are bugs in
implementation, not in the entire concept of flat volumes. There have
been a number of PulseAudio releases after the patch was added. Perhaps
the bugs in question have been fixed upstream by now and the disable-
flat-volumes workaround has become unnecessary.
