Hi, same basic problem, have a Dell Dimension 2400, no sound. it says I do not have a soundcard installed when I type:
aplay -l the specific message is: mplay: device_list:223: no soundcards found There is definitely the on-board soundcard in. It works in XP and Vista (but not Windows 7), using the relevant Sound Blaster Pro driver. I am using KUBUNTU 9.10, just installed today using the Wubi installer; it is successfully set up to dual-boot with Windows 7. All works as far as I can see, except the sound.
