In 1.7x, -1 is the default value until the tracker responds and provides
the real values.  Ideally this should be displayed as "Unknown" or some
other human-readable string.  From your description, it sounds like
what's happening here is the tracker is not filling in these values for
some reason.

As a side effect of 1.80's new ability to announce to trackers in
parallel (http://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/1699), the display of
these fields is now done on a per-tracker basis, with no number given
until the tracker has responded.  So I am closing this ticket because
the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu -
Lucid Lynx.  It won't be fixed in previous versions of Ubuntu because
this is a cosmetic issue that doesn't fit the requirements for
