Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: update-manager
The package is update-manager. I have been having this problem since
Jaunty Alpha 5. Update-manager crashes with a message about not being
able to capture the mouse. This also happens when I run update-manager
-d. (I tried to upgrade to Lucid because Karmic has been the version
from hell.)
Expected behavior - the update-manager would check for new updates and
allow me to install them.
Actual behavior - error message and crash. The crash is so bad that I
cannot run other programs afterward - the screen is frozen. Sometimes I
can recover by clicking on other areas of the screen and regaining
control.
I know I won't be able to fie a bug report on another problem - when I
downloaded the Lucid alpha 2 iso, burned it to cd (ok) and then tried to
run it to upgrade, I got a kernel panic. Why aren't we allowed to file
reports in launchpad without having the problem program up and running?
I am so angry right now that if I am considering using another
distribution.
