I had the same problem too and this is how I solved it. -Open Terminal and type "alsamixer" at the prompt -When the Alsamixer App opens, use the left/right to select the "Headphone" Channel - The "Headphone Jack Sense" Parameter was set to "Off". I think this is the default setting. Press "M" to toggle this On/Off. I switched this on. -Exit from the App by pressing "Esc" and presto, the speakers cut off when the headphone jack was inserted into the input port.
I think the PC does not sense the presence of the earphones when it is plugged in by default, as it is set to "Off". Switching this "On" did the trick for me. Hope this helps the rest of you trying to solve this problem.... >From Fiji... -- Speakers do not mute on headphones (Fujitsu-Siemens ESPRIMO M9400) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219556 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
