I also am experiencing this issue. I isolated it to a single USB device that causes my system to hang on boot at the exact same time as the original reporter. The culprit is a Logitech Performance MX mouse's USB receiver. The USB ID is "ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc." If it's plugged in, my system hangs, but I can wait until it gets into userland to plug it in and my system works fine.
