Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

Completion bar in Ubuntu Software Center stopped at 50% when installing
the Elmer package

it looks like it hung during elmer config:
root 17177 1.0 2.5 135680 51588 ? S 07:32 0:42

/tmp/elmer.config.262931 configure

I did the following:
sudo kill 26317
sudo kill 26294

This got rid of the hang, completion bar went to 100%

Ubuntu Software Center doesn't show it is installed, but it appears to
work when I start it from the menu.

When I exit Ubuntu Software Center and restart it, it now shows Elmer is
installed.
