I just had the exact same problem here. I think i found the cause. by doing: "dpkg-query -s k3d" i get the field: "Python-Versions: current" (amongst all the other fields)
and when i inspect the "/usr/bin/pycentral" file on in the function where the last error raised (line 535) it looks to me as though its searching for "Python-Version:" (without the 's') so in the pycentral file i added in the 's' and the k3d packaged was removed successfuly.
