I tried playing a variety of audio and video formats, mp3, mp4, avi, etc.
Although video displayed normally no sound at all played.
I ran a system test with the multi-media systems selector on the sound and
video and again, video was normal but this time I did get sound as long as
default output was set to ALSA ALC861-VD Analog (pipeline: alsasink
device="hw:0,0" is not highlighted). No other settings under this test would
produce any sound whatsoever.
Also, I have noticed that the initial login sound that plays as the system
starts up sometimes plays and sometimes doesn't.
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 with the latest updates
