Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
On a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04 on a MacBook Pro from CD, then running
updates with the Update Manager (I did nothing else whatsoever), I get:
Setting up openoffice.org-emailmerge (1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1) ...
Adding extension /usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.0/program/mailmerge.py...javaldx:
Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Please ensure that the package openoffice.org-java-common is installed.
If it is already installed then try removing
~/.openoffice.org/3/user/config/javasettings_Linux_*.xml
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Please ensure that the package openoffice.org-java-common is installed.
If it is already installed then try removing
~/.openoffice.org/3/user/config/javasettings_Linux_*.xml
The update manager then hangs and will not close. I can probably resolve this
in Terminal, but the casual user would not be able to do this. This seems like
poor and very problematic behavior for a standard install, especially of a
long-term release.
I was able to kill update-manager and dpkg manually from a Terminal and
then run dpkg --configure -a and it went right through the same error
without stopping. Odd. I let Update Manager sit there for a good 10
minutes before I gave up on it.
