Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
When I try to open or save a file using OpenOffice on my SFTP share, OOo
gives me an error window saying that "You can only select local files",
yet I can explore the share through the open/save dialog. This in
itself is an OOo problem, one which I suspect might be difficult for
them to solve given all the different kinds of remote file sharing
setups that they would have to deal with. Since Kubuntu has already
done the hard work of OOo integration with KDE, however, wouldn't it be
relatively simple to implement a workaround where the open/save dialog
uses the KIO backend to create a temporary local copy and opens/saves
from that? Or perhaps some other solution? It just seems weird that
there's enough integration that you can browse through an SFTP share but
that you can't save to or open from it.
