After upgrading to Karmic I could use the free driver for my Broadcom
wifi card. That means wl is not in use anymore
("sudo rmmod wl" gives output "ERROR: Module wl does not exist in
/proc/modules")
So I think we may conclude that it seems not to be related to wl.
