I recently installed the 9.10 patch and I am experiencing the reported
bug exactly. If I do not interrupt the boot loaded some messages flash
by to quick to be seen, if I interrupt the loaded, selecting 'recovery
mode' I get the "could not access PID file for nmbd". Contrary to the
statements above "waiting" does not eliminate the problem.

Depending on criteria I cannot pin down I do get tonnes of other
messages on the screen but nothing that says "here it fails".

Once I got into command line mode, but I do not know where to find the
log files that may shed some light on this. If someone can point out
the necessary folder I will retry later.
