Adrian, we treat bugs on different chipsets as different bugs unless proven otherwise. If I remember correctly, the Q35 is similar to the 965G, but it is quite different from 945G and in the vast majority of the cases bugs on one chipset does not translate to another (even though they may have the exact same symptoms). I missed the fact that you had another chipset when I wrote the comment above.
On other bug reports (bug 450853 and bug 445056), people have reported that downgrading mesa to the version in my PPA stops the freezes.
