Ok, I've figured out how to get the backtrace. It's attached. I've partially edited the http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash to make it clearer on the points I got stuck, but please could you edit it further to explain how you "check if there is a package with a -dbg suffix in the main Ubuntu repositories".
