Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
If auto log in is enabled (i.e. System Administration, Login Screen
Settings, select Log in as) and the computer is switched on and ubuntu
auto logs in, then if the computer is left unattended for the time set
in "Power Management, Put display to sleep.." the screen does not switch
off. However if the computer is then used and left unattended for the
set time the screen does switch off as expected, and will do so if left
unattended again. Equally, if the computer is used after the auto log
in, but before the screen should power off, if it is then left
unattended the screen will power off as expected. So, it is only the
initial time that it should power off that it doesn't.
