Public bug reported:
I just started testing with Ubuntu 10.04 alpha 2 and ran into a problem
when trying to boot the server edition, it simply turns black/blank when
grub is loaded.
Installing the AMD64 alpha 2 goes fine, but as soon as the BIOS passes
the screen turns black with no output at all.
I also tested Ubuntu 9.10 server AMD64, this works fine, it boots like
it should. Even upgrading to 10.04 from 9.10 fails with the same result,
as soon as i reboot it turns blank.
Also, the OS does not boot, the server does not request an IP at the
DHCP server, so it's really not booting at all.
Some information about the server:
- SuperMicro X7DVL-E motherboard
- 2x Intel Xeon 5110 1.6Ghz Dual-Core
- 6GB DDR2 FB-Dimm
- 4x 500GB Maxtor S-ATA
I just wanted to test Ubuntu 10.04 and the KVM capabilities, i am aware
of the fact the alpha 2 is not production ready :)
To me it seems to go wrong with grub, it simply won't boot?
