Thank you for your trying to help...I finally broke down and just reloaded ubuntu 8.04...it works fine now

Status in “firefox-3.5” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: OK os theres a few things going on here...im a little new to ubuntu...i have an Acer Aspire 2920...with ubuntu 8.04...it was working fine when i first loaded it on my computer...now if i close firefox and try to open it again it does nothing...but there is a small tab at the bottom of the screen that says close firefox...on top of it all...i can not save any downloads...at all...is is saying that the files are write protected but when i check them out and try to change them it tells me i cant.
