@rob, is it's still an issue then remove the file
/var/lib/apt/lists/ubuntu.media.mit.edu_ubuntu_dists_jaunty_universe_binary-i386_Packages
then run:
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
This will likely fix your issue. I'm closing this report because the
