I got this error also. Software Center said that it was waiting for other package installers to quit or something like that and then it crashed.(Apport came up, but software center stayed open). When I went on the command line and tried to run sudo apt-get install flashplugin- installer, I got the error E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. I don't know if that was why software center crashed, or if software center caused that.
