I just found a way around this. I'm using Karmic Koala now. What happened was I had an iso-image of Karmic Koala's desktop edition burned on a disk before I found out I could do this: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading#Upgrading%20Using%20the%20Alternate%20CD/DVD
I thought of upgrading using Jaunty Jackalope's Update Manager; but then it showed "dkms" suggested for upgrading, clicking the update button, the Update Manager asked me to insert the iso-image of Karmic's desktop edition. And so I did. With "dkms" in my system already, I did the same thing again stated on above's link. Everything went pretty straightforward from there on. ;) -- Upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 from Alternate CD, fails with " Failed to fetch cdrom:[Ubuntu 9.10 _Karmic Koala_ - Release i386 (20091028.5)]/pool/main/d/dkms/dkms_2.1.0.1-0ubuntu1_all.deb Wrong CD-ROM " https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/469042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
