Hi , Yes I can install other packages from the Software Center and via Synaptic .Sometimes the download is quite slow , but most of the time there is no problem at all .
I should have said earlier that I am using Ubuntu 9.10 , with a mobile broadband connection . I am also an absolute beginner with Ubuntu , having just switched from Windows a few days ago . I was sick-and-tired of the security issues with Windows . So I am trying to install all the programs that I generally use .
