Can you please try installing "linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic"
(then reboot) & report your results? A number of audio problems have
been resolved by installing this package. Also please ensure there are
no extra "alsa model quirks" in your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
If this does not resolve your issue, please run "apport-collect -p alsa-base
511660" (without the quotes) again from the terminal after installing that
package.
