Hi , I don't know if this helps or not .
When I try to use Realplayer I get a message saying that I need the following package - text/html;charset=UTF-8 There seems to be no error in my RealPlayer installation I just need extra software . When I try and play using Rhytmbox I get a message saying that I need text/html decoder This plugin does not seem to exist . I have also tried to install Banshee , this also hangs at 5% . PAX , John. ________________________________ From: Draycen DeCator <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sun, 24 January, 2010 21:23:49 Subject: [Bug 511632] Re: Cannot download gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad John, we may have figured out what is causing the issue. Could you please see if the "ubuntu-restricted-extras" package is installed on your machine? Installing that package may give your computer access to the "gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad" package. The GStreamer plugins are not included with Ubuntu by default due to licensing issues, but can be installed after installing the "ubuntu-restricted-extras" package, which contains some GStreamer plugins by default. After that package is installed, you should be able to install the "gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad" package without a problem using whatever method you choose. Hopefully this will work so you won't have to use the .deb file I mentioned in the last comment. -- Cannot download gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511632 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in “gst-plugins-bad-multiverse0.10” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad When trying to download the gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad package ("GStreamer plugins for mms, wavpack, quicktime, musepack" in the Software Center), the package is unable to be downloaded. This problem occurs in the Software Center, Synaptic, and when attempting to install through the terminal. Each time, the program sits for a long time attempting to download the package, but eventually times out. Switching mirror servers in Software Sources (and running 'sudo apt-get update' afterwards) has not solved the problem. The Software Center and Synaptic have had no trouble downloading and installing any other packages.
