OK, it is fixed now. It might have been something in .local, but I am not totally convinced that the reason for the bug (?) was very specific to my configuration. Anyway, since I can't reproduce it now, this bug can probably be closed?
For the record, here is what I did: - look in Edit Menus for the Remote Desktop entry - it was not there - in Edit Menus I found that gnome-control-center is only disabled and in gnome-control-center the Remote Desktop entry appeared (still not in the menu) I renamed .local to .local.bak and logged out/in. (ah, I should have written it down, I somehow think I logged out/in twice for some reason) Remote Desktop showed up in Edit Menues but was disabled - I enabled it. after another log out/in everything was fine. - Restore .local by "mv .local.bak .local" log out/in - still everything ok I should have looked into .local/share/applications before, but now I only have a vino-preferences.desktop file there (the time of the file equals the time when i enabled it in Edit Menus). -- [feisty] remote desktop (vino-preferences) entry is missing in the menu https://launchpad.net/bugs/89448 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
