Thanks for taking a look.  The referral to FireFox came from the tool that 
gathers information from the system for the bug report.  The actual build is 
simply the downloaded Ubuntu .iso plus any updates that are deemed necessary 
buy the Update Manager.  I am not intentionally selecting fonts; this is the 
build as it comes "out of the box".  I did try 9.10, but that didn't work out 
(display flickers badly, right edge of image appears on left side of screen...).

Not sure what package this should be under (it would depends on what
font you use from what source package. This is not a Firefox bug in any
way. it maybe a GTK bug or theme bug
