Found a workaround:
While in the LiveCD, edit the file
/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/kde_ui.py
Change the line 205 to look like this:
mod.breadcrumb.setText("anything")
Save. Done! Now, jump like a lion through the installer... until you hit
bug #512953.
