Howdy, FYI, just loaded the cairo stuff from the pre release updates and it worked like a charm. I can now print via evince again!. Just in case anyone doesn't know how to enable -proposed, its simple: On the System menu, select Administration -> Software Sources. Select the Updates tab and place a tick next to Pre-released updates (karmic- proposed). Then click Close and reload when prompted. Open the Update Manager and deselect all -proposed packages except cairo, and install. -- Evince 2.28.1 can't print pdf files in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala. However it works with other pdf viewers such as xpdf, and open office(can do duplex printing) and gimp. So I don't think it's the printer or drivers at fault here.
